Fail your way to success

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." (Michael Jordan, greatest basketball player of all-time)

The above testimony is so true. I know that me and many of my friends have missed out on many chances by not daring to risk failure. Fear of failure can make you overwork an essay and hand it in too late. Fear of failure can have you miss out on parties or nice adventures.

Many people who fear failure, think what if a catastrophe would happen? But the worst-case scenario will happen to each and everyone. All of us will suffer physical and mental pain and inevitably death. So enjoy life while you can or at least embrace your inevitable disasters.

Often people making or admitting to mistakes or shortcomings make us recognise our own failings and have us laugh heartily. And laughter as a result of an action, isn't that a sign of success?

If you're throwing a dinner party, too much focus on getting everything nice, it can make you so controlling and mean, that people do not enjoy themselves as much. If you have love in your heart and a positive attitude, a bag of crisps might be more enjoyable to your guests than a stiff social event.

It is when you risk failure, that you can think new thoughts and ideas. The faults of yesterday are often the solutions of tomorrow.

I didn't dare finish law school, because I did not believe I would get straight A's. Maybe this was a good thing, since I love journalistic writing so much. But if I had really wanted to become a lawyer, it would have been a mistake.

A failure is just a subjective evaluation of a situation. Try to look at things positively. There is no book written by Reality itself with the correct answers on how to live life. If you can accept the answer no, your possibilities are immensely more numerous bordering on infinite.

But it is not only employees, students and other individuals who have everything to win by daring to fail. It is of utmost importance that the societies, companies and organizations, of which the individuals are members, allow their members to fail without losing social security or their job straight away. New innovations come from failure after failure. And it is through innovations, that the major companies of tomorrow will be borne.

Embrace failure. Learn from your mistakes and try, try and try again! It is the key to sucking the marrow out of life and achieving success!
